I’m Judi Dagostino, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC) with over 30 years’ experience in the mental health and substance abuse fields. I have worked in many different types of treatment settings both inpatient and outpatient mental health care. My most recent position was at Rutgers Behavioral Health (formerly UMDNJ) for 25 years. During my time at Rutgers, I had the opportunity to work in clinical care providing individual and group counseling, program leadership with program supervision, clinical supervision and providing professional trainings. Currently I exclusively provide therapy for adults in my private practice Blue Heron Therapy, LLC located in Tinton Falls NJ.

So, what does all this mean for you?
If you’re looking for a therapist who is warm, compassionate, direct, and maybe even a little humorous, you’re in the right place. I believe that we all have the capacity to create change in our lives. There were many times in my life that I used the gift of therapy to help me manage stress, adjust to life changes, and just find ways to increase my own personal growth. I was wanting to just feel better with more clarity, contentment and authenticity. I take great joy in being able to help others create a new beginning!

Why choose to work with me:
Life is challenging, and being human is hard—but you don’t have to face it alone. I am passionate about helping you create the changes and authenticity you are seeking in your life. As a fellow human I have throughout the years engaged in therapy to address my own issues related to life transitions along with issues that had created stress and anxiety. My experiences in therapy brought a tremendous amount of relief to me allowing me to pivot, embrace authenticity and create new beginnings when I needed to. One of the most valuable skills that I am passionate about teaching is Cognitive Behavioral therapy (CBT). My sessions incorporate CBT because it works and seeing my clients grow with using these skills has been very exciting for me, witnessing the change in others is truly something I embrace as a therapist. Of course, I also believe that therapy is not just one size fits all, so in addition to CBT techniques we also add other techniques all with a focus to help you feel empowered to create meaningful change and to open the door to a new beginning!
Therapy can be and is a transformational process that leads to increased clarity, contentment and authenticity. I have walked this path for my own needs, and I hope you are wanting to seek the same for yourself. I do understand that getting started is hard and I appreciate hesitation, so I welcome the opportunity to provide a free consultation. Reach out to me so that we can explore ways that I can help you achieve the changes you want!
Fun Facts about me:
I am a NJ native born and raised by the beautiful Jersey Shore. I consider the beach my happy place and will find myself there to use as a source of renewal, just watching the waves and sometimes even swimming in them. I have 2 dogs Bella and Jackson and I enjoy walking them with my family, just being out in nature is one of the best places to be! I love to travel whether long journeys or day trips. When I am not providing therapy, I can be found in a Pilates studio, knitting store (I love yarn and have way too much), walking the boardwalks, beaches and parks in NJ.
